Reyan took up the cello at 7 years old, and has now been playing for over 20 years. She went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music and has graduated with a BMus and MMus in music performance. Whilst studying at the RNCM, Reyan had lessons from renowned cellists such as Hannah Roberts, Gillian Thoday, Victoria Simonsen, Leonard Elsenbroich and Natalie Clein.
Since graduating in 2020, Reyan has freelanced as a performing cellist in different orchestras across the UK. Between the years of 2022 - 2023, Reyan performed with Southbank Sinfonia, now known as Sinfonia Smith Square, an orchestral fellowship course based in London. Reyan has also performed with Ulster Orchestra and has worked closely with Black Lives in Music.
Reyan enjoys a variety of different performance styles and music genres and has worked with session orchestras and has toured with various artists. More locally, Reyan works as part of the management team of The Untold Orchestra, a charity based in Manchester. She has also performed with them in projects such as MOVEMENT, a multi art form piece which delved into the struggles of Black Artists. Reyan was a part of the Bloom Album recording with Bill Laurence.
Reyan has been teaching the cello for 5 years and finds it important to push her students to find their passion and creativity when playing the cello. She has also taken part in many outreach projects from whilst she was studying and has always enjoyed watching her students progress and finding more confidence.
